Bringing you a rich treat on this gloomy Fall day – Turtle brownies with homemade salted caramel! My goey brownies are always on repeat at our house but one day I decided I wanted to take them to the next level. Enter pecans and homemade salted caramel.
I absolutely l.o.v.e. salted caramel, especially my homemade recipe. It’s more of a sauce than a spread which makes it so versatile. This salted caramel is perfect to drizzle on ice cream, brownies, apple pie, crepes but also great to incorporate in your baked goods such as salted caramel frosting, caramel stuffed cupcakes etc. For this recipe, I added salted caramel on top of the brownie batter before baking and drizzled some more on top because in my opinion, you can never have enough salted caramel 🧡
Remember how I just said I drizzled more salted caramel on top? Well maybe it was a bit of an understatement since I may have actually spread some all over one piece before eating it 😬 (and it was delicious! #noregrets)
These turtle brownies will (hopefully) rock your world! They are rich, have the nice crackled top and the chocolate pairs so well with the pecans and salted caramel. Definitely an indulgent treat but so perfect for those cold days ahead of us.

Description
Wondering how to elevate your brownies? Add salted caramel and pecans! Turtle brownies will become your new favourite indulgent weekend treat!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup + 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp homemade salted caramel (or store bought) (+ more for serving if you love salted caramel as much as I do!)
- 1/2 cup pecans (halves)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven at 350F
- Melt the butter and chocolate together, mix well and let cool for a bit
- Add gently the eggs one by one, followed by the vanilla extract and the granulated sugar
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt
- Blend the rest of the chocolate chips and the pecans in the batter
- Pour the batter in a 9×9 inch pan lined with parchment paper and make sure the batter is spread evenly
- Drizzle the salted caramel on top
- Bake 20 minutes and let the brownies cool in the pan
- Enjoy with extra salted caramel on top 🙂
Notes
I personally like to add my pecans on top of the brownies rather than mix them in completely. If adding them on top, slightly push them in the batter.
Do not bake the brownies for longer than 20 minutes! They will look a little underdone but they will continue to bake in the pan once out of the oven. If you bake them longer, they will be more cakey than goey.
