Happy New Year! I’ve decided to do a bit of a different post today and share some of my favourite healthy and refined sugar-free snacks. This month I’m joining Pinch of Yum with their “sugar free January“. The idea is to cut down on sugar for 30 days. I have the biggest sweet tooth and after all the December cookies, my body could definitely use a little reset!
As Lindsay explains in this post, you can make your own rules for “sugar free January” in order to best suit your lifestyle. Personally, I’ve decided to allow myself pure maple syrup, honey, fruits and dark chocolate. I have also planned two “cheat” meals because this month is our anniversary with my boyfriend and his birthday (and he has already requested a tiramisu!)
So here are some of my favourite healthy and refined sugar free recipes that will be perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth this month 😊
1) Cookie Dough Energy Bites
These guys are a little bite of heaven! They are like a healthy version of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.
2) Healthy Peanut Butter Cups
If you want to indulge a little but stay on the healthier side, try these easy homemade peanut butter cups. You will only need 4 ingredients: dark chocolate, coconut oil, natural peanut butter and maple syrup. That’s it!
(The original recipe says to use semi-sweet chocolate chips but if you are trying to cut back on sugar, dark chocolate is the way to go here!)
3) Vegan Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
I love muffins for an easy breakfast or snack on-the-go. These banana muffins are naturally sweetened from the bananas and some maple syrup.
4) Homemade Peanut Butter (Pinch of Yum)
Why not try to make your own peanut butter this month? Check out Pinch of Yum’s homemade peanut butter recipe!
5) Sea Salt Chocolate Pretzel Bark
Feeling like having a bite of dark chocolate? Why not add a little sea salt and pretzels? This chocolate bark is super easy to make and will be perfect for your little chocolate cravings.
6) Healthy Blueberry Zucchini Muffins (Ambitious Kitchen)
This yummy muffin is packed with zucchinis (ie. veggie) and blueberry (ie. fruit)! So super healthy right?! Try these delicious muffins from Ambitious Kitchen.
7) Pumpkin Spice Energy Bites
Ok, I know it’s not pumpkin season anymore but these pumpkin spice energy bites are SO GOOD! And they are healthy so go make them 😊 You won’t regret having them in your fridge for those sweet cravings.
8) Triple Chocolate Coconut Granola Clusters (Fit Mitten Kitchen)
Lately one of my favourite snacks has been yogurt with granola. And one of my favourite granola recipe is this triple chocolate coconut granola by Ashley from the Fit Mitten Kitchen. My boyfriend and I ate this batch in no time!
9) Healthy Banana Bread (Erin Lives Whole)
I love a good banana bread to snack on! Plus it can double up as breakfast if you don’t have a lot of time in the morning. Check this healthy banana bread from Erin Lives Whole (yummy and contains no refined sugar)!
10) Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Pancakes
Well pancakes are not quite a snack I know, I know. But if you are wondering what to have for breakfast tomorrow morning that’s sweet but doesn’t contain refined sugar, check out these pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes. Sub the semi-sweet chocolate chips for dark chocolate chips, or omit them completely to really stay away from refined sugar. These fluffy pancakes won’t disappoint!
Enjoy the rest of your week-end! And see you next week for a new recipe 😊
